“Love the food, this is an incredibly delicious restaurant”
Very welcoming owners and staff, very proud of what they have put together.
This is the best food we had during our trip in Dubrovnik, way above all restaurants in Dubrovnik in terms of sophistication, freshness of the ingredients, and overall quality of the meal and drinks.
Not to be missed.
“Wonderful Restaurant in the Konavle Valley”
On a recent visit to Cavtat we visited this wonderful restaurant. Just a couple of km's off the main Dubrovnik Airport road, close to the intersection for Cavtat this little gem is a little off the beaten track but well worth a visit!
The location is fabulous, you just feel totally away from everything - the food is just wonderful - we have visited Dubrvonik several times over the last few years and eaten in many different restaurants and I can safely say that we had one of the best meals ever over all that time at this restaurant. The menu was very varied and a real change from the typical dishes in a lot of the other restaurants - we could choose scallops, risottos, fish and all sorts of other dishes - they even vary the entree menu to light and classic to match your appetite for the recent hot weather - and my sweet tooth just adored the dessert the most wonderful treacle tart with home made pistachio ice cream - very different from the usual choices of pancakes / ice creams / fruit cups which anyone familiar with the area will know is more likely to be the norm.
Top notch food, at a really reasonable price given the quality! Definitely intend going back!
“Went above and beyond”
We stayed at the hotel since it was the closest to the Dubrovnik airport and our flight left super early in the morning. We have a 1 year old baby and when we arrived at the hotel it was late and rainy. The hotel staff was amazingly hospitable, coming to the car with an umbrella and helping us lug all our luggage up. The food at the restaurant was surprisingly superb, some of the best we had our entire stay and what you would expect at a 4/5 star hotel! The next morning since it was still dark, they escorted us to the airport (we had a rental car) and when we realized we left the bag with our passports, the gentleman helping us went back to the hotel to find it and we still made it out on time! Would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially families.
“Everything was Amazing! Staff! Food! Service! Rooms! Ease to Airport!”
This is the perfect place to stay if you arrive into DBV late, or depart on an early flight. JoJo the van driver was on time, pleasant, spoke perfect English & was at our disposal! Jojo shuttled us to the sleepy waterfront village of Catvat, five minutes away, and picked us up a few hours later.(In lovely Catvat, we shopped, strolled, ate & went for a swim at one of the numerous small coves... ) Ana and her staff welcomed us warmly when we pulled up, they were most pleasant and helpful. All spoke English beautifully. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable & spotless. Warning- there is no elevator like most small hotels in Europe, but there is plenty of help to carry bags upstairs. And you must eat here! breakfast is included, and dinner is a 5 star experience not to be missed! The owners have a winery, and we had the best bottle of wine I think I have ever tasted. Everything was amazing!
Some may not like the isolation, but there are benefits to the location of Hotel Major being in the quiet countryside. The shuttle van makes it easy to go to the beach in Catvat and airport... both a few minutes drive. The airport transfer was 14 euro one-way, and the Catvat transfer was complimentary. I'd come back to Croatia just to stay here!
“Accomodating staff and best restaurant in whole trip”
This is a small hotel in the hills above Cavtat that offers the most accomodating staff and service. We were met by Anna, the manager, and 2 others who gave us a royal welcome and that was typical of the 3 days we stayed there. The friendly staff were fun and could not do enough for us.
Our room was spotless and roomy with a separate living room and a walkout to a terrace overlooking the valley. We had a rental car which made the location work for us but I believe the staff would be helpful in making transportion arrangements to town.
A real bonus was the fantatstic restaurant. We had planned to eat there once then try some others in Cavtat, but were so mpressed the first night, we enjoyed the cuisine and the wine all 3 nights. In the 13 days we were in Croatia, these meals and the wine they recommended wereclearly the best and at quite reasonable prices. The baby octupus was a winner but all entrees were excellent and attractively presented by our friendly waiter Milan. It was our final 3 days in Croatia and we were so glad they finished on such a high.
“This is a jewel of a hotel”
We were so luck y to find this unpretentious hotel. The friendly, attentive service is un- beatable, the dining room, fantastic, with an incredible chef & good wine The food is excellent & even the espresso each morning was tops. Thank you Milan!
The only consideration is that there is no elevator & therefore to go to one's room on the 3rd floor there are 35 steps to climb.
Our suite was spit-and-pokish clean & very comfortable. We were even driven to the airport at 6AM on the day of departure & they had prepared a lunch for us. Absolutely charming & so accomodating.
